General Terms and Conditions (GTC) of Hotel Säntis Betriebs AG
1. Fundamentals
1.1. These General Terms and Conditions govern the legal relationship between the guest/organizer and Hotel Säntis Betriebs AG (hereinafter referred to as "hotel") for accommodation contracts and all other services. They apply to Hotel Säntis, Hotel Hecht, and Hotel Löwen.
1.2. Only the hotel's terms and conditions valid at the time of conclusion of the contract shall apply.
1.3. Should individual provisions be invalid, the validity of the remainder of the contract shall remain unaffected.
2. Conclusion of contract and reservation guarantee
2.1. The contract is concluded upon written confirmation by the hotel.
2.2. A reservation is only considered guaranteed once a credit card guarantee or advance payment has been provided. This can also be done via a secure payment link. Without a guarantee, the hotel may treat the booking as provisional or cancel it.
2.3. Subletting, re-letting, and use for other purposes require written consent.
3. Services, prices, and payment
3.1. The hotel will hold the booked rooms ready. There is no entitlement to a specific room.
3.2. The hotel may rebook guests within the three establishments (Säntis, Hecht, Löwen) to an equivalent category if a room is unexpectedly unavailable. The hotel will cover the necessary transportation costs to the replacement hotel.
3.3. All prices are quoted in Swiss francs (CHF), including VAT and the statutory visitor's tax.
3.4. Obvious pricing errors: In the event of system errors or obvious errors in the price quotation, the hotel is not bound by the price. The guest will be informed and can book at the correct price or cancel free of charge.
3.5. The hotel may adjust prices if the guest subsequently changes the number of rooms, services, or length of stay.
3.6. If payment or guarantee is not provided by the deadline, the hotel may withdraw from the contract without issuing a reminder.
3.7. International customers: For billing addresses outside the United States, a 100% prepayment may be required. No invoices will be sent outside the United States.
3.8. Invoices are payable within 30 days without deduction. A fee of CHF 25.00 will be charged for reminders. The hotel may also charge additional costs for debt collection, address verification, or legal fees.
4. Room use, arrival, and departure
4.1. Check-in: from 3:00 p.m. Check-out: by 11:00 a.m.
4.2. Late arrivals after 9:00 p.m. must be reported, otherwise the hotel may dispose of the room.
4.3. Late check-out is subject to a charge (50% of the price until 4:00 p.m., 100% thereafter).
5. Cancellation of individual reservations
5.1. Cancellations must be made in writing and confirmed by the hotel.
5.2. The deadlines specified in the confirmation apply.
5.3. In the event of cancellation after the deadline, no-show, or early departure, 100% of the total stay will be charged.
5.4. The hotel will endeavor to re-let the room; if this is successful, the amount obtained will be deducted.
6. Group reservations (5 rooms or more)
6.1. A group booking is defined as a booking of 5 or more rooms.
6.2. An advance payment of an unspecified amount may be required as confirmation.
6.3. The list of names must be provided 14 days prior to arrival.
6.4. Cancellation scale, unless otherwise confirmed separately:
- Up to 30 days in advance: free of charge.
- 29 to 15 days in advance: 50% of the accommodation costs.
- 14 to 7 days in advance: 75% of the accommodation costs.
- Late arrival or no-show: 100% of the accommodation costs.
6.5. For group bookings, only the following categories are available:
- Single Room
- Double Room
- suite
7. Banquets and seminars
7.1. The final number of guests (guaranteed number) must be reported at least two business days before the date and serves as the basis for billing. Exception: funeral receptions. At least 95% of the guaranteed number will be charged.
7.2. Cancellation of banquet:
- Free of charge up to 30 days in advance.
- Days 29–15: 50% rent.
- Days 14–8: 100% of the rent.
- Days 7–3: Rent + 50% of food sales.
- < 3 Tage: Miete + 100 % Speisenumsatz .
7.3. Night surcharge: From midnight onwards, staff will be charged additionally.
7.4. Music: Ends at 1:30 a.m. Volume must be lowered after 10:00 p.m. Guggenmusik (traditional carnival music) is prohibited after 10:00 p.m.
7.5. The organizer guarantees that all decorative materials comply with the applicable fire safety regulations; the hotel may request proof of this.
8. Cancellation by the hotel
8.1. The hotel may withdraw from the contract for objective reasons (e.g., non-payment, force majeure, misleading information, threat to reputation/security).
8.2. The guest shall not be entitled to any compensation.
9. Stay and house rules
9.1. Smoking is prohibited throughout the hotel. Violations will incur a cleaning fee of CHF 500.00.
9.2. The guest is liable for Internet use (Wi-Fi).
9.3. Lost keys will incur a charge of CHF 25.00.
9.4. The posted house rules are an integral part of the contract.
10. Liability
10.1. The hotel is only liable in cases of intent or gross negligence. Statutory liability applies to items brought into the hotel up to a value of CHF 1,000.00.
10.2. The guest is liable for all damage caused by him or his participants. When procuring technical equipment from third parties, the hotel acts on behalf of the guest. The hotel accepts no liability for the functionality of technical equipment procured from third parties on behalf of the guest.
10.3. No liability is accepted for theft of or damage to vehicles on the premises.
11. Additional provisions
11.1. Pets require approval and are subject to a fee.
11.2. Lost property will be kept for 3 months and forwarded only at the expense/risk of the guest.
11.3. Advertising that refers to the hotel requires written consent.
