Rhône Valley & Friends
Saturday, February 20, 2027, starting at 3:00 p.m.
Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre—the Rhône has given the wine world three grape varieties that are now grown from Australia to California to Priorat. This evening, we’ll pit the originals against their descendants: Hermitage versus Barossa Valley, Châteauneuf versus Priorat, Cornas versus Paso Robles. Plus, two showdowns within the Rhône region itself—Guigal’s two legendary single-vineyard wines side by side, and two top-tier Hermitage Blancs.
Hans Babits will lead the tasting. All wines will be served blind: You'll know which wines are in your glass—but not in what order. The answer will be revealed after each flight.
The following wines will be served:
- Clos i Terrasses, Clos Erasmus, Priorat 2009
- Penfolds, "Grange," Barossa Valley 2004
- E. Guigal, Côte-Rôtie “La Landonne” 2001
- Domaine Auguste Clape, Cornas 2012
- Domaine Jean-Louis Chave, Hermitage 2005
